You Are a Great Wonder

Revelation 12:1-6

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

“And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”

Woman, you are a great wonder. Clothed in righteousness, and your head and feet are covered with light. You are birthing beauty in a place where there was only ash. Yes, you are a great wonder. Molded in God’s image and filled with His Spirit. You are gifted with more than you can ever dream, and you are more powerful than you can ever imagine. Do you know that you are a great wonder? You are working long hours, cultivating the next generation, reaching new heights, and creating communities that are encouraging and inspiring. You are not allowing discrimination and harassment to run your lives. You are speaking for those who can’t speak for themselves and teaching the world what love looks like. Despite the criticism, here you are. Don’t you know that you are a great wonder?

I’m so glad I am a great wonder. It’s so crazy. The last time I read this verse, I didn’t get this same message. I didn’t even realize that the woman giving birth was being referred to as a great wonder. I have seen women struggle in a lot of communities, but there is a universal struggle for women. I could go on a rant talking about a woman’s true role in the world, but that is not a part of this message. Besides, I feel that the spirit is telling me not to be petty today, so I had to delete the paragraph that I wrote. I’m still growing, ladies.

This woman is a great wonder because there is something inside of her that is ready to be born. After going through labor myself, I can say that it is the most vulnerable but powerful I have ever felt. The vulnerability stemmed from relinquishing some control to the doctor and nurses there to help in my daughter’s delivery. I felt powerful because I was able to take the labor pain and still push for the gift God gave me.

Sis, you are a great wonder when you relinquish control to God. There will be people and things that will try to kill the dream inside you. You have the business idea, but you have no investors or support. You have the subject for the book, but you seem to have writer’s block. You are working to become a better version of yourself, but the people from your past are trying to discourage your progress. Do not be afraid. Once you birth that dream, God is ready to protect and nurture it.

Lastly, do not be ashamed to go to that sacred space God prepared for you to recuperate. You need to be nourished after all the hard work you do. Open up the word and get renewed in God. Go into your prayer closet and seek God’s strength. This world will drain you, but you have a well that will never run dry. You have access to the bread of life. You will no longer hunger or thirst for acceptance of this world.

I’m tired of seeking love in all the wrong places. I’m tired of asking the wrong people to fill up my cup, and theirs is empty. I’m tired of explaining the call God has over my life. I’m tired. I want to seek refuge in the wilderness that was prepared for me. I want to heal from the things that were said and done in the past. I want to connect with God on another level so that my child will rise and call me blessed (Proverbs 31:28). I want to see her grow close to God so that her children will do the same.

I pray that God will continue to use me to write this content to bless you and others. Please like, share, and subscribe. I want to reach more readers so they can have a personal relationship with God. Remember, you are a great wonder!

Sincerely Your Sister,

JJJ.
